This time we’re getting at least one plague, mass crop failures, probably a lot of complexity collapse in the US.

I’m picturing a guy sighing with his hands on his head, staring at most of a car with the front wheel stuck in the router. Like, he can figure this out, just give him a minute. Maybe he needs a walk to clear his head. The pieces are there.
Yeah but that particular lunacy is grandfathered in to society, so I avoid it in my rants
I mean. Have you stopped to consider why you can’t find a nature documentary to fit a “humans aren’t destroying the planet” narrative?
For reference, the “Hopeless Dipshit Percentage” in any population is about 25-33%.
About a quarter to a third of the population believes in witches, ghosts and ESP; that the earth revolves around the sun; that Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11; that Obama was born in Kenya; and that evolution and climate change are hoaxes. A third of the US population can’t name a single right guaranteed by the constitution or even one branch of government. And a quarter of the population self-professes that they wouldn’t stop supporting Trump no matter what he did.
In that context, only 3% willing to pay any money for AI is an utter failure. The LLM bubble needs to burst yesterday, and the whole Internet needs to roll back to 2022.
We had like a hundred years to mitigate this, and we didn’t. Had to run out of time at some point.
“Collapse is a process, not an event.” It’s very likely we’ll be extinct by the end of the century. There will be all manner of hell from now until then. Our population of over 8 billion is only possible because of a highly complex global web of systems. Complex systems are fragile. Once dominos start falling, people will start starving very quickly.
Why is it so swirly?
OP is referencing Pretty Woman (1990), starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts.
You damn kids, don’t know Richard Gere, get off my lawn, etc.
The kind of picture I took for my Myspace profile with Linkin Park’s Numb playing in the background
This is why I live where the air hurts my face in winter.
Thanks! Take enough rapid fire photos, you have a decent chance of getting a good one. 😅
I did not expect the lovage to be such a hit with the bugs! That was a pleasant surprise. I think it’s the most ladybugs I’ve seen on one plant.
Lovage is blooming, and teeming with little hoverflies and ladybugs.
I think I’ll take RFK’s advice and not take health advice from RFK.
No the fuck they aren’t. They’ll be over it by tomorrow.
That is a super misleading headline. What’s the efficiency improvement over existing technology, instead of raw barium titanate?
At this point, what difference is there between actual cops and criminal imposters, other than real ones also get a paycheck while they’re breaking into your house and ruining your life?
Well, “weed” can be a legal definition. A lot of governments have a noxious weed list that either provides for consequences if you suffer that plant on your property, or just an excuse for the government to come on to your property to kill the weeds for you. For instance, Russian Olive is legally a “kill on sight” invasive plant in my area.
